CBSE NEWS URGENT : New CBSE Practical Exam Rules & 'No Correction' Policy Explained.

If you are preparing for the Class 12 board exams, the pressure is already on. But for the 2025-26 session, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has just raised the stakes significantly.

The board has released a fresh set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for practical exams scheduled to begin onJanuary 1, 2026.

While strict guidelines are nothing new, there is one major update that has caught everyone’s attention: a zero-tolerance "No Correction" rule.

Here is a breakdown of what has changed, why it matters, and how to ensure you don’t lose marks due to a technicality.

The 'No Correction' Rule: What It Means

In the past, schools could sometimes request changes if they made a mistake while uploading marks. That option is now gone.

Under the new rules, schools must upload practical marks to the CBSE portal on the same day the exam takes place. Once the marks are uploaded, the system locks them instantly.

  • No Changes Allowed: Even if there is a typo or a clerical error, the marks cannot be changed later.

  • Final Decision: The marks uploaded on the exam day will be treated as final for your board result.

This puts a lot of responsibility on schools and examiners to get it right the first time.

Major Guidelines You Must Know

Apart from the mark uploading rule, CBSE has introduced several other strict measures to ensure exams are conducted fairly.

1. External Examiners are Mandatory

For Class 12, the practical exams must be conducted by an External Examinerappointed by CBSE. If a school conducts the exam without an external examiner, the exam will be cancelled, and students will be marked as "Absent."

2. Geo-Tagged Photos

To prove the exam is happening fairly and on time, schools must upload "Geo-tagged" photos. These are special photos that automatically record the location and time they were taken.

  • Photos must clearly show the students, the internal examiner, and the external examiner.

  • Faces must be clearly visible.

3. Strict Batch Timings

Be punctual! Schools have been instructed to form batches of 20-30 students. You need to be in the lab before the scheduled time. Often, the external examiner will conduct a lab inspection before the exam starts, potentially as early as 10:30 AM.

4. The 'Undertaking'

Both the Internal and External examiners have to sign an official document (an undertaking). This certifies that the marks they are uploading are 100% correct and based on the student's actual performance.

Quick Summary of New Rules

FeatureOld Rule / Common PracticeNew 2026 Strict Rule
Mark UploadsCorrections were sometimes possible later. No Correction Rule.Once uploaded, marks are locked forever.
EvidenceStandard photos.Geo-tagged photos with time & location stamps are mandatory.
ExaminerExternal examiner required.Strict penalty: Exam cancelled if External Examiner is missing.
TimingFlexible upload window.Same-day upload is compulsory.

What Should Students Do?

Don't panic, but be prepared. Since your teachers cannot "fix" your marks later, make sure you perform your best on the actual day.

  • Check your details: Ensure your name and Roll Number are correct on the attendance sheet before the exam starts.

  • Be on time: Late entry might be denied strictly due to the new batch uploading protocols.

  • Focus on the File: Ensure your practical file is complete and checked, as it’s immediate proof of your year-long work.

NCERT Textbooks Now Mandatory in CBSE Schools; CBSE Implements New Rules For Class I to XII.

#. UPDATE REGARDING TEXTBOOKS FOR CBSE SCHOOLS .

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made some important updates to its rules, now requiring all schools in India to use NCERT textbooks. These changes are outlined in the 2018 Affiliation Bye-Laws (Chapter 2, Clause 2.4.7). The goal is to make sure all students learn the same material and to remove anything that might be offensive.

Official Notice

Guidelines for Classes I to VIII

The new rules, announced by CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, are in effect right away. Schools must use NCERT or SCERT textbooks for students in Classes I to VIII. If schools want to add other materials, these must follow the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) guidelines. These extra materials should be easy to understand and include practical exercises.

This approach ensures that students not only learn the theory but also see how to use it in real life. By sticking to the national curriculum, CBSE guarantees that students across the country get a consistent education.

NCERT Books Are a Must for Classes IX to XII

For students in Classes IX to XII, schools must use NCERT textbooks as specified by CBSE. If NCERT or SCERT books aren’t available for certain subjects, schools should use CBSE-approved books from the Board’s website.

Schools can also include extra materials and digital content, but these need to match NCF guidelines. Digital tools are encouraged to make learning more engaging.

Be Careful with Content

The new rules emphasize the importance of careful content selection. Schools must ensure that any additional materials, digital content, or books from private publishers do not contain anything offensive to any group. This aligns with CBSE’s commitment to creating a respectful and inclusive learning environment.

Clear and Responsible

CBSE requires schools to list all required books on their websites. This list must include a signed statement from the Manager and Principal, confirming they’ve reviewed the books and are responsible for their content. If a school is found using books with offensive material, CBSE will take appropriate action.

Education Loans in India : Easy Step-by-Step Guide to Apply

#. EDUCATION LOAN IN INDIA  :

In today’s world, education costs are on the rise. Whether you're looking to study in India or abroad, the financial strain on your parents can be significant. Affording higher education can feel overwhelming due to these expenses. However, there are ways to tackle this challenge, such as scholarships, financial aid, and education loans.

Let's explore the basics of education loans: what they are, their advantages, disadvantages, and how to apply for one.

What is an Education Loan?

Education loans are specifically designed for students pursuing higher education. They are offered by banks, government bodies, and universities, enabling students to finance their studies both domestically and internationally. In India, various banks provide education loans with competitive interest rates. It's important to note that interest rates can vary between banks.

Usually, students don't need to start repaying the loan immediately after finishing their studies. Repayment typically begins a few months after completing the program.

Types of Education Loans

Based on Location

  • Domestic Education Loan

If you're looking to pursue education in India, you can apply for this loan. Approval is contingent upon admission to an Indian educational institution and meeting other lender criteria.

  • Overseas Education Loan

For those dreaming of studying abroad, this loan covers airfare, accommodation, and tuition fees. Eligibility criteria must be met.

Based on Course

  • Undergraduate Loans

Designed to support undergraduate students, this loan helps cover expenses during a 3 to 4-year degree program across various specializations, paving the way for better job opportunities.

  • Postgraduate Loans

Many undergraduates opt for postgraduate courses to deepen their knowledge in a specific area, typically spanning a 2-year program in India.

  • Career Development Loans

Professionals seeking to enhance their skills often pursue professional courses after a few years of corporate experience. These loans support enrollment in top business and technical schools to advance their careers.

Based on Collateral

  • Loan Against Property, Deposits, and Securities

You can secure financing by pledging assets like agricultural or residential properties, fixed deposits, gold deposits, bonds, debentures, or equity shares.

  • Third-Party Guarantee

A guarantee letter from a bank employee or a co-borrower can facilitate obtaining an education loan.

Are Student Loans and Education Loans the Same?

Yes, "student loan" and "education loan" are terms used interchangeably. Both are aimed at assisting students in funding their higher education.

  • Loan Amount: Up to Rs.1 crore for international students and up to Rs.50 lakh for domestic students.

  • No Limit on Deduction Amount:Obtain a certificate from the bank to claim deduction.

  • Duration: Available for eight years from the start of loan repayment or until the interest is fully repaid.

How to Apply for an Education Loan: Step-by-Step Guide

Applying for an education loan can vary depending on the bank, but most follow these common steps:

Step 1: Choose a Bank

In India, numerous public and private banks offer education loans. The first step for students or parents is to select a bank. It's essential to review the bank’s terms, interest rates, and other requirements before making a decision.

Step 2: Check Eligibility

Before applying, it’s crucial to check if you meet the eligibility criteria set by the bank.

Step 3: Fill out the Application Form

While application forms differ, all banks typically require certain documents. These include passport-size photos, graduation certificates, high school marksheets, and proof of identity and address (like Voter ID, PAN card, or Aadhaar card). For loans for studies abroad, additional documents like university admission proof, course schedule, and scholarship letters may be needed.

Step 4: Bank Consultation

After submitting the form, many banks arrange a discussion with the student and their parents or guardians. This helps clarify details about the loan terms and the educational program.

Step 5: Loan Approval Process

The bank then assesses the application, often requiring a guarantor (usually a parent or guardian) with a good credit history. This step is crucial in deciding whether to approve or deny the loan.

Step 6: Loan Disbursement

Once all formalities are complete and the loan is approved, the bank disburses the funds. The tuition fees are usually paid directly to the educational institution.

Study Loan Repayment System

Upon completing your course, some lenders offer a grace period of 6 months to 1 year to find a suitable job before beginning loan repayment. This grace period varies by lender policy. Once employed within this timeframe, you can initiate repayment through EMIs.

Contact bank officials to discuss your monthly income, and they will recommend an appropriate EMI amount. If the suggestion suits you, you can start making monthly repayments. Alternatively, you have the option to negotiate the EMI amount. Typically, the maximum repayment period allowed is eight years.

CBSE Instructs Schools to Stick to Current Curriculum, with Updates for Classes 3 and 6

#. CBSE  NEW  CURRICULUM FOR GRADE 2ND ,3RD ,4TH AND 5TH.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today issued a notice asking schools to follow the existing curriculum and continue using the same textbooks for all classes except Classes 3 and 6. The board has also asked schools to use the same textbooks as in the 2023-24 academic year.

This announcement by CBSE is to clear any doubts and for more clarity. Citing a circular issued on March 22, 2024, the board directed schools to use the new textbooks published by NCERT by 2023 for Classes 3 and 6. It further reiterated that there will be no change in the curriculum and textbooks of other classes for the academic year 2024-25, starting April 1, 2024.

CBSE said in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), "In order to clear any misunderstanding and for greater clarity, it is reiterated that there is no change in the existing curriculum or textbooks for all classes other than 3 and 6. Schools are once again instructed to continue using the same textbooks for these classes as they did in the previous academic year (2023-24)."

The official notice issued in March said, "It is mandatory for schools to ensure adherence to the curriculum guidelines mentioned in the opening pages of the curriculum document.

👉 Official Notice

Subjects should be taught as per the prescribed curriculum, incorporating methodologies such as multilingualism, art-integrated learning, experiential learning and pedagogical plans, wherever possible." The plan to revise the books and syllabus for both the classes– for class 3 and 6, was made by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as class 3 marks the beginning of the elementary and class 6 marks the beginning of the middle stages and they needed a revamp so that they are in line with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) and to ensure a smooth transition to the new curriculum, the council had also prepared a “bridge course” for class 6 and “brief guidelines” for class 3.

Refuting the media report – Confusion over revised NCERT textbooks for classes 6, 9 and 11 leaves teachers perplexed – meanwhile NCERT too in a post on X said that all the textbooks for class 6 will be available within July 2024 and that the two-month deadline mentioned in the article is incorrect.

It further states: "RPDC Bangalore supplies textbooks to all South Indian states including Tamil Nadu. The title-wise demand for Class 9 and 11 textbooks received from RPDC Bangalore has been fulfilled by NCERT Publications Division and no shortage has been reported by RPDC Bangalore."
